Alayna, Kim and Michelle are all first year midwifery students studying at the University of East Anglia, and working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn.

The three wanted to do something to raise awareness about an issue that would be important to them in their professional careers as midwives, and decided to raise funds for Petals after realising the importance of the support that the charity can offer to couples who have experienced trauma during pregnancy and birth. Michelle Keen says “Even in the short time we have been studying so far we have come across ladies that have suffered various types of trauma and loss at various stages of pregnancy and some that have returned to maternity services for subsequent pregnancies following a loss. We recognise the the bravery and sheer strength it takes to come through such an event that can change in an instant from the most joyful moment in a families life to be so devastating it has the ability to tear even the strongest families apart. Because of this we have a lot of admiration for what Petals provides and can see, even in its infancy the impact it will have on peoples lives.”

The skydive is booked to take place in Beccles on Saturday 27th April. The girls wanted to do something “out of their comfort zone to encourage people to donate their hard earned money to such a good cause”. They have set themselves a huge £2000 fundraising target, and have been collecting sponsorship via their bmycharity page as well as rattling their collection boxes at Uni!

We wish them every success with their dive, and look forward to seeing some pics after the event.  Please support them if you can by donating here.  Good luck girls!
