The theme of this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week was psychological support for bereaved parents, and throughout October Petals has been busy talking to Ministers and MPs about just how important this topic is.

Our Chief Executive Karen Burgess met with Health Secretary Matt Hancock earlier this month, and a few days later presented to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Baby Loss, about our work and the recent Centre for Mental Health report Life After Loss.

Petals was also invited to present the report to the national bereavement midwife forum, where there was some lively debate about the findings and the cost savings that hospitals and the Government could be making by funding a nationwide Petals service for bereaved parents.
