Karen Rettie, Counsellor

I made a life changing decision to train as a counsellor in 2014 and undertook 4 years of study, qualifying in 2017 with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Counselling for me is a vocation rather than a job and I find being able to help people through some of their most difficult times, immensely rewarding. I have gained extensive experience supporting clients with bereavement, loss and trauma through my work with a hospice. In my private practice I work with individuals and couples presenting with numerous issues including anxiety and depression, trauma, PTSD, domestic abuse and relationship difficulties.

I feel privileged to work with Petals, using my experience to provide support to individuals and couples who are going through one of the most devastating areas of loss. I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for them to talk about their loss and its impact on them, listening with compassion and understanding and validating their experience. I try to help my clients find a way to manage their grief and to move forward, recognising and building on their inner strengths and adjusting to life after loss.
