Petals supporters have raised over £240 for the charity, thanks to the ‘Cash for the Community’ scheme run by Cambridge News.

The Cambridge Building Society generously donated a total of £10,000 to the scheme, which raised funds for 25 local charities. Tokens were printed in Cambridge News every day for four weeks, and readers collected the vouchers for their chosen charity.

All together 29,000 tokens were collected and, of these, 952 were collected for Petals, raising a total of £242.89. Karen Burgess, CEO of Petals, attended a presentation ceremony at the Cambridge News offices last week and said: ‘We are extremely grateful to everyone who collected tokens for Petals, and supported our cause. We would also like to extend our thanks to Cambridge News for organising the scheme, and most of all to The Cambridge Building Society for making such a generous contribution to local causes’.
