We have some very lovely friends and supporters who have started doing a bit of baking to help to raise awareness about Petals, and hopefully raise a few funds along the way too…
If you haven’t seen the posts already – the Petals Bake Off involves someone making or decorating a cake (or cupcakes/cookies/muffins… anything really!), and posting a photo of it on Facebook or Twitter, along with a link to our website and a nomination to get a few friends to do the same. We think this is a brilliant idea and we are very grateful to whoever came up with the idea and started it off! What better way to raise money and awareness than by combining it with an excuse to make/eat cake???
We have seen a few very yummy looking cakes already, and there are rumours that some people are using it as an excuse to invite a few friends round for an informal coffee morning, and others are even planning to sell/raffle their cakes to help raise more funds. For the non-bakers among us, there is also the option to just buy a cake and take a picture of yourself eating it! As long as it helps to spread the word about Petals and maybe encourage a few donations too, then we will be grateful to anyone who takes part!
If you are interested in having a go – please don’t wait for someone to nominate you – get baking! All you need is a snap of your creation to upload to Facebook/Twitter – and then use some wording along the lines of:
“Here’s my contribution to the Petals Bake Off. I’m taking part to raise awareness of www.petalscharity.co.uk, and to raise funds too! I’ll be donating by texting PETL14 £5 to 70070, and I nominate xxx, xxx, and xxx to have a go too! Enjoy 🙂 #petalsbakeoff”
It’s up to you if you want to add more details, or invite your friends round for a slice of cake in return for a donation, or even organise a cake sale or coffee morning…anything you can do will be appreciated. Whatever you do and however you word it, please make sure you include the text donate number PETL14 £5 to 70070, and either link to our website www.petalscharity.co.uk or link to our page on Facebook www.facebook.com/petalscharity, or mention our Twitter handle @petalscharity. This will help us to see all your fantastic creations and will hopefully encourage others to take part.
This is a fantastic way to help us spread the word about the work we are trying to do, and also to help us to raise the funds to pay for counselling sessions for those who need it. If you can, please take part, and encourage your friends to do the same.
Here’s a few of our favourites so far…
