Our cake sale which took place in the Rosie Hospital at Addenbrookes this week was an amazing success, and has kicked off our fundraising for this season with a bang!  We had so many cakes donated and lots of very happy customers throughout the day, raising and amazing total of £464. A big thank you to Yvonne, Dee and Jacqui who all helped enormously with the organising and manning the stall, alongside Karen. How on earth did they all manage to stand there all day without eating all the delicious cakes???

So what’s next? Well, we’ve already got Georgina Morley and her colleagues at Moves Fitness running a Fitness Fundraiser in April, Karina Douglas organising a jumble sale, there’s talk of Lucie Murray doing a parachute jump, Amelia Grant and her friends doing the 10k Spartan Race this time, and many, many more ideas which have been floating around since our fundraising meeting in February. Chloe wants to organise an Awards Night for all her friends at college, and there are rumours of pamper evenings, coffee mornings, and all manner of other fundraising ideas, including a rather large gathering of people ‘jazzercising’ this summer…. (watch this space for details….)

We are forming a fundraising ‘committee’ – a team of enthusiastic volunteers who want to get involved in fundraising with or for Petals, and who want to have a bit of fun while they’re doing it :-) Some of us gathered at Cafe Diem in Milton last month and started kicking around a few ideas. The first of those was the cake stall, and we’ve seen how successful that can be with a few of us working together. So, now that you’re all interested (!) there will be another meeting after Easter so anyone who couldn’t attend in February will be very welcome to come along and join in. Sign up on the Friends page on our website, or email [email protected] if you are interested… let’s go raise some money!
